Friday 26th, Daddy was at work but was able to finish early, so the girls and I packed up the car and drove off to pick him up. As we set off, snow was gently falling.
We left work at about 3 and by about 4:30pm were at Granny and Grandpa’s where it was time for cuddles, a run about and a bit of tea before bedtime.
Next morning we busied around helping Granny get the house ready as everyone would be coming back there after the twins’ christening. Then it was time to head out to the church, it was bitterly cold out, but the church was warm. Fidget was really pleased to see her cousin C who had come down from Aberdeen. They had a great time running about together.
M and I had been asked to be little J’s Godparents – a responsibility we were thrilled to accept. Granny and Grandpa kindly looked after the girls while we did our bit in the ceremony.

After a really nice ceremony it was back to Granny and Grandpa’s for food and socialising…
Fidget and C disappeared upstairs and were playing really nicely whenever M when up to check on them. They were either reading books together, or chatting or bouncing on the bed!

Fidget chilling out with Granny…
Fidget and C considering photos of their other cousins, “whish you were here, having a lovely time…”
C had brought with her a Peppa Pig teddy, which Fidget admired and C decided to give it to Fidget as a present, which was so lovely of her. Fidget was thrilled and Peppa has been Bear’s companion ever since!
The food was really good, little C’s dress did suffer, she still looks angelic!
Next morning Fidget, Squidge and I were down for breakfast while M had a lie-in, Aunty M and the twins were down too. The cousins had great fun playing together…
Fidget was doing a great job looking after her little cousins, making sure they had toys…
and reading books to them…
little babas…
After lunch there was time for a swim before heading home.
There had been a light covering of snow over Dorset (nothing like the snow seen in other parts of the country), as we drove home the sun was setting and driving through the quaint Dorset villages was like driving through a Christmas card for 2 and a bit hours. It was so pretty (this photo does it no justice).
It had been the coldest weekend of the year, and we arrived home to find the heating had gone off in the house as the batteries in the thermostat had gone. It was 10deg in the hall and 9deg in Squdge’s bedroom. It was Sunday evening, we frantically searched round for AAA batteries (knowing we wouldn’t be able to nip out to the shops to get them) fortunately we had some in. We then tried to get the house warmed up in the hour we had before bedtime. Squidge’s pjs and sleeping bag were warmed up on the radiators, both had extra layers of pjs, we put Fidget’s pillows and bedding on the radiator – which she thought was pretty idiotic and gave us looks to say we were very silly – how on earth could she sleep on the radiator?!
