Today we went along to visit M's cousins and their partners/spouses, who were getting together for new years in Newport; A&M, B&T and G&D. G&D have a baby girl - little C. C is about 3 months older than Fidget and has mastered sitting, waving hello, standing and wandering round (holding onto someones hands), Fidget was very impressed. After a convoluted discussion and a web search we established that Fidget and C were second cousins, and that C was M's first cousin once removed!

Fidget had a great time playing with C's toys!

Fidget also sat up unaided (for a moment), she had apparently done this over Christmas with Granny and Great Auntie M, but today we got some photographic evidence, well "evidence" is a bit of a strong word, but the following picture is of Fidget sitting up - honest, there wasn't much time to line up a better shot!

Yesterday was Fidget's 24th week birthday....

she has been doing well with eating and today and yesterday enjoyed pureed swede - yum! It has been a bit thicker than the babyrice, and it is interesting to note that what goes in, really does come out!

Today, Fidget was looking splendid in new clothes received at christmas, the outfit above was sponsored by Rachel&Darren and the Mush-es, thanks to Rachel&Darren for the spotty vest and trousers and to the Mush-es for the stripey top, what serendipity that they go together so well. Also Fidget would like to thank J for her Piglet who is very soft and coordinated very well today and to the Booths for the flappy duck (and for the cuddly teddy which is lovely and cuddly and will be great at bed-time).

Just back from spending Christmas down with Granny & Grandpa Challis, so quite a big posting to get through.

Grandma & Grandad Walker had given Fidget a very large present wrapped in pink princess paper so we decided to open it before travelling down as the car would be packed to capacity anyway and also it was Fidget's 23 week birthday.

It was a big sqwishy snail rocker and wheely toy, it is really comfy and it's ears sing songs!

On arrival at Granny & Grandad's the present opening continued with Fidget opening a lovely hat and scarf that Granny had bought in Germany. Fidget's performance on opening the present was succesful but slow and we did wonder if we would need to get her started on the unwrapping immeadiately given the mountain of presents received.

On the Saturday, M's aunt M and uncle S arrived followed by Fidget's auntie M and uncle A. That evening we all got to try out the new pool and M showed off his excellent swimming skills, I think this display inspired Fidget as she was certainly more enthusiastic when it came to her go, than she has been before.

On Sunday, we went to the beach with M&A, this was the first time that Fidget had seen the sea (the mighty river Humber doesn't count), she had a lovely time and liked the sound of the waves.

On Christmas day, Fidget wore the outfit chosen by you Fidget-fans, the happy skirt and top and she looked lovely...

Fidget recieved so many fantastic presents, lovely soft toys, pretty clothes and shoes, great books, super toys, we will try and thank you all individually, but for now, thank you to everyone who sent presents.

Fidget's weaning has been going well, so while we all had christmas lunch, Fidget worked her way through pureed potatoe and carrot, I say we all had christmas lunch - M was struck down ill and only had some soup - he couldn't even eat christmas pud - his most favourite food!
unfortunately, lack of sleep meant that I was not on top form either but I did manage a good plate of food.

We celebrated Boxing day in the traditional way by visiting the Monsoon sale, for the outing Fidget tried out a new outfit and shoes, just as I was trying out my lovely new shoes and knitted waistcoat...

This morning, Fidget had a visit from J...
before we all had to say goodbye and head back home.

Big day today!... Fidget's first solids!! Though they didn't look too solid to me, she tried some baby rice, which remarkably she wolfed down. Up to now there had been no indication she would take to it so well, we'll see how we go when we get to mushed vegetables, but a very good start.
Well done Fidget!!!!

Fidget is 22 weeks old today...

Yesterday, Fidget turned 5 months old and to celebrate demonstrated a new skill...

she has been developing good strength in her legs and likes standing though the balance aspect causes her some problems, but she is now able to use the sofa to steady her (nothing hard as she is still a little frantic in her standing!!).

Last night, M and I went out for the first time since Fidget was born, we had a great night, while aunty M looked after Fidget. We did get her to sleep before we left and all went well, though aunty M did spend the last few hours of her duties with Fidget asleep in her arms in the darkness unable to put her down without waking her - we sympathise with that situation and are very gratfull for the efforts. Ta aunty M!!

This weekend Fidget and I were struck down with a cold, so M continued with tidying the house ie moving stuff down from the loft, out of the ensuite, up to the loft etc and we moped around sniffing. He also planted out some plants I received as a christmas present while Fidget and I looked on from the window making snotty noises.

One of the things we found in our clear-out this weekend was a little spinning top, it goes great on our new floors and Fidget thinks it is very funny...

and finally hair-watch update...

it is definitely growing, believe me!
