Been a bit of a gap in posts, it has been a busy couple of weeks... a week last Friday I was looking after Fidget having swapped days with M, we had a lovely day with swimming in the morning. In the afternoon Fidget had her tea in the front room and we listened to her animal songs cd which is really cool (thanks to G, D and little C and sorry we hadn't got round to thanking you sooner - but it is brill).

It was also Fidget's 19 month birthday.

On Saturday, M was heading off to China for a week, but before he went we had some fun playing in the front room and Fidget and Daddy had nice cuddles.

So M went off in the taxi and we waved goodbye. We had got some stickers in a catalogue so Fidget used them to make a wonderful artwork which I have named "a pigeon's dream"...

Unfortunately in the early hours of Sunday morning I started to be very ill. So Sunday was a bit of a strain, I stayed in bed in the back bedroom, occasionally getting up to get food and drink for Fidget or change her nappy, but apart from that, she spent the day pulling the room to pieces and investigating what was in the cupboards...

We missed Daddy the week he was away. On Friday just gone, Granny and Grandpa came up and looked after Fidget over night while I headed down to their house in Dorset where M's sister's hen weekend was happening! M arrived back on Saturday, so it was only yesterday we got to see each other and swap stories of our week.

Fidget was really pleased to see her Daddy, I had told her he would be back the night before and when she heard the door, she ran to meet him shouting "Daddy, daddy, daddy!!"

Fidget had quite a bad night last night, this morning we figured out why, she now has gooey ears to match her eyes, so along with the crusty nose we have a full set. M and Fidget tromped out through the snow to ask the pharmasist for advice, but seeing as she was really quite chipper he said wait until Monday to see the doctor.

After lunch, I got ready to complete the mural in Fidget's room-to-be, while M put Fidget down for a nap.

I have to say I am quite pleased with it, we will get her furniture ordered and then it will be just a case of moving her stuff across and then Fidget herself.
The move can't come too soon now. When I put her down for her afternoon nap on Monday, she kept leaping up and sticking her leg over the top of the cot, I would turn around to look at her and she would stop dead as if to say "what Mummy?, I am just doing some ballet stretches! don't mind me, I'm not trying to climb out, honest!". When she is in her sleeping bag at night she has less flexibility, but she is getting good at the zip and some mornings I have found her with the zip part open and a little foot poking out.

More snow!! We woke up on Thursday fully intending to go into work, as Fidget's eye was much better, but overnight we received the heaviest fall yet.

So it was tag team working again,

Fidget and I had fun in our first shift of the day, playing in the front room.

In M's morning shift he took Fidget across to the park, he fashioned a sledge from this (very hard to describe) plastic bucket thing Fidget has, but it was rather unstable so she fell in the snow a couple of times which did not help with the snow-bonding process.

As we went to bed last night, the snow was still falling, and so it was even deeper this morning. M and I had swapped working days, so he is working from home.
I realised we had very little in for breakfast, so after trying to enjoy an out of date ryvita with honey (quickly resorted to just licking the honey off it) I decided that Fidget and I needed to undertake an expedition to the shops. I didn't think the pushchair would be up to it, so with M's help fashioned a sledge from a plastic box, a length of electrical cable and a cushion.
Fidget and I got dressed up warm

and set out.
Fidget was quick to recall that she wasn't fond of the cold white stuff, particularly when she tipped over and landed in it (I did realise eventually).

We made it all the way to the shops (with only 2 more Fidget spills), got the groceries. I then decided it would be easier to put the shopping in the box and carry Fidget, as shopping doesn't wriggle and fidget. It was pretty hardcore coming back with the snow blowing into our faces and I felt Fidget and I were heroic explorers returning with provisions for the family.

Fidget was pretty tired so went down for her afternoon nap rather speedily. I headed out into the back garden to get the snow off the roof and gutters of my greenhouse and take a few pictures...

The garden certainly looks very beautiful.

The snow started to fall yesterday, and Fidget enjoyed a snowy day with Daddy. But we realised that Fidget had gummy eye and wouldn't be able to go to nursery, so we decided to work at home today but in a tag team fashion.

We woke to a lovely bright snowy morning,
M took the first work shift so I looked after a gooey eyed Fidget...
We went across to the park to check out the snow

Fidget had a good look around but wasn't really impressed by it

So we wandered home. We played for the rest of my morning shift in the front room, Fidget was chatting away so I started to take some video but she immediately became interested in the camera and wanted to investigate...

Later in the afternoon, I took a couple of pics of the back garden
I should have taken the upstairs view as the shapes of the pergola and fruit bushes looked lovely in the clean snow, but hey ho...

We will be doing the same tomorrow, but it looks like the eye is healing fast which is good.
