Fidget is 3!

On Monday 12th we took a walk out to the park with Grandma and Grandad. Granny and Grandpa had brought Fidget a scooter so we took it out for a test run in the park…

we had another visit to the fountain

20100712_40-41-42wks_21720100712_40-41-42wks_219and Fidget got wet again!

Tuesday was Fidget’s 3rd birthday, Squidge was also 40 weeks old. After some more present opening – where Fidget received an indoor scooter from Grandma and Grandad. We then went out to the zoo with Grandma and Grandad.

First stop as usual was the lions…

20100713_40-41-42wks_221 the lion came over to size up Squidge– but in true Bristol style she was not bovered.20100713_40-41-42wks_223 while we are here looking at a Squidge v Lion face off, here is Fidget at 40 weeks…

40weeks2471955242_141a438b01back to the zoo…

we went into the bat enclosure, Fidget wasn’t sure about the bats, matters weren’t helped by mummy squealing and running away while a wee-ing bat flew overhead.

20100713_40-41-42wks_227 we then went into the aquarium section which was a hit with both girls…20100713_40-41-42wks_229 20100713_40-41-42wks_231 20100713_40-41-42wks_233 20100713_40-41-42wks_241 then after lunch, the monkeys…

20100713_40-41-42wks_244 both girls felt at home amongst their kin

20100713_40-41-42wks_247 then my favourite; the penguin and seal enclosure…

20100713_40-41-42wks_250 20100713_40-41-42wks_03320100713_40-41-42wks_03520100713_40-41-42wks_254 20100713_40-41-42wks_256

Fidget and Grandad in the maze…

20100713_40-41-42wks_262 Then for the main event as far as Fidget was concerned – the paddling! It was quite an overcast day with odd rainshowers, so i had wanted to leave the paddling to the end of the day so we weren’t walking around wet and cold. When we finally went into the paddling area there was no one else there probably due to the steady drizzle. Grandma and Grandad walked Squidge around while me and Fidget got on with the important business of paddling…

Squidge is a great fan of water and splashing, but once she realised she wasn’t getting to join Fidget in the cold, she decided a snooze was the next best option…

The rain really started to come down so we packed up and headed home, but it had been a really good day.

On Wednesday we went out to Cribbs Causeway. Back at the house the birthday girl opened more super presents and played with Bear and dolls…

Fidget wanted some photos with the birthday boy bear (who is also 3 years old)…

Fidget wanted to take a picture of us…20100714_40-41-42wks_302 and then wanted some pictures with Grandma and Grandad…

In the evening, Grandma and Grandad babysat so M and I could go out for a curry at our local Tandori nights, which was super – thanks Grandma and Grandad!

On Thursday 15th, Grandma and Grandad set off back home, Fidget was at nursery so it was just me and Squidge playing at home.

I got out the tunnel to give Squidge’s new found crawling skills a good challenge…

20100715_40-41-42wks_311 she was very keen to explore…

Squidge loves pulling herself up on Fidget’s little car, she stands there waggling her leg at it in an attempt to get on it, so I helped her out, once on the car she is already very good at getting it too move, but gets frustrated if it doesn’t go fast enough.

then she had a go at throwing....

Crazy to think Fidget is now 3, I am reminded by Squidge so often just how she was as a baby. Fidget at 3 is a delight; full of fun and energy with a very caring and gentle side, I am very proud of her - my beautiful little girl.

Parties – Fidget and Page Park

Saturday 10th was the Page Park centenary party. We had been warned about the early set up and potential traffic issues, but were really looking forward to the day. We were up earlier than the first soundchecks and managed to get all the cars parked on the drive and had no intention of driving anywhere on the day (our road ended up with only 1 passing place – chocca with cars and then busses still trying to come through!).

We were really impressed by the whole thing, it was really well organised with lots of stuff on, including some great music, lots of interesting stalls and also free fun things for the kids. Fidget went on the bouncy castle and then saw the bouncy slide. She wanted to go on the bouncy slide and I thought it was a bit old for her but didn’t want to sound too discouraging, she insisted so we queued up, at the front of the queue she had to stand in line on her own, again I thought she would bottle when I couldn’t stay with her, I didn’t say this but just waited for the crying… which didn’t come! At each stage I waited for it to be too much for her but it wasn’t at all. She climbed up on her own and slid down and jumped off – all with smiles. In the photo below she can just be seen crawling out across the top.

20100710_40-41-42wks_021 20100710_40-41-42wks_022

It really made me think just how much she is growing up and how I need to let her stretch herself abit more. Well done Fidget – I am really proud of you.xxx

We headed over to the sensory garden to get a cup of tea…20100710_40-41-42wks_023 20100710_40-41-42wks_024 20100710_40-41-42wks_128 20100710_40-41-42wks_129 The fountain by the dongers was finally running - I have never seen it running since the garden was constructed. Fidget had a great time checking it out but got a bit (read sopping) wet! Fortunately I was carrying her cardigan which was very long, so this had to do for a change of clothes for the walk back to the house…20100710_40-41-42wks_115 20100710_40-41-42wks_118

and a fantastic toadstool cake

20100711_40-41-42wks_154 20100711_40-41-42wks_156 we had the secret santa present exchange for the mummy group kids… 20100711_40-41-42wks_157 20100711_40-41-42wks_159

Fidget got a hungry caterpillar board game and a super sticker book – thanks secret birthday santa!!20100711_40-41-42wks_160at this point I thought it would be a good time for a game, I thought we’d try the tray game (where the kids have to memorise the items on a tray and then spot what gets taken away). I was hoping it would work ok as I do play it sometimes with Fidget (with fewer items) and she certainly gets the concept, and I thought with the older kids (Oliver and Isabelle) there to start things off we’d be ok. After an initial scramble from the kids to try and grab or get dibs on their favourite items on the tray, I explained the rules, I was really pleasantly surprised at just how well it went, with Sophie getting right in there and spotting the bee had gone. They all did really well, I have a feeling that Isabelle was playing it strategically – waiting until the necklace came up!20100711_40-41-42wks_163 20100711_40-41-42wks_165 20100711_40-41-42wks_167 Then it was time to bring out the cake…20100711_40-41-42wks_175

20100711_40-41-42wks_177 20100711_40-41-42wks_179there were a number of fairies to spot in the garden….20100711_40-41-42wks_181 20100711_40-41-42wks_18220100711_40-41-42wks_183 20100711_40-41-42wks_184 and time for more playing…

20100711_40-41-42wks_189 20100711_40-41-42wks_194 after most of the guests had gone and just the grandparents were with us, Fidget dove into some present opening. Granny and Grandpa had bought a bag for Fidget that had an integrated baby bear carrier… 20100711_40-41-42wks_199they also had brought bear a new wardrobe of clothes… 20100711_40-41-42wks_204
