Had a busy morning with a trip to B&Q, a nice long nap (for Fidget), cleaning and tidying (for mummy) and then a walk out to the shops to get some fruit and then back via the playground.

While at the shops we popped into a couple of charity shops and picked up this super hat that Fidget is modeling (thanks to Granny for the lovely dress)...

As with any hat, it is fun to play with, but Fidget isnt keen to wear it. But, I think it will be a good addition to the dressing up box as she gets older.

The long weekend is nearly over, it's been lovely to be at home with TeamChallis, and we've been grateful for the better weather. On Saturday we walked up to the high street for M to have his hair cut, Fidget and I had a look in the charity shops and then we decided to show our support for the latest new enterprise - a coffe shop, which does a rather nice cake! When we got back, M lifted the potatoes and garlic and then did some preparation for next weekend, by leveling and tidying the compost heap area and then putting the compost heaps in place.
Fidget had fun playing laundry basket dodgems...

On Sunday, we did quite a bit of tidying around the house. Today it was back out in the garden again, I sowed a few seeds for some winter veg, and picked up the fallen apples, M did more weeding and clearing and removing some old path edging where our new lawn will be. Fidget enjoyed watching and playing with gravel. (Thanks to Granny for the super outfit!).

Fidget was intrigued by my plant lables, and was busily engaged in slotting them into the pipes that hold the netting-support-hoops.
Fidget is still resisting nap times, yesterday and today she got into the sorry state where she was so tired, she fell asleep in her high chair...

Later after a good sleep, Fidget and I played on the deck while M carried on with clearing the garden.

Part 4... phew... we are nearly there! This last video covers 7 months to now.

Part 3 and 4 were recorded later that same evening. The end of part 2 had been cut off when the video stopped recording, but I was just starting to talk about how life started to become easier as breastfeeding stopped being painful and we managed to get out more at around 1 month or so. Part 3 picks up here, so covers from about 1 month to 7 months.

The keen-ees among you may have noticed two videos posted up yesterday, and may have even watched them and realised that they were not quite as long as advertised. I am not sure what happened but Flikr cut off most of the vid. I have reloaded them via YouTube, so hopefully you can now see the full - directors cut....ENJOY!

A year of Fidget (Part2)

Part 2 of 4, (a brisk 4 minutes!!) covering just after Fidget was born up to starting to emerge from the house together and getting a social life...

A year of Fidget Part 1

On Wednesday night I finally got round to recording a video diary looking back over Fidget's 1st year. I have been meaning to do this before it all gets too hazy as the blog has typically focused on the cutest and happiest moments.

Health warning, there are 4 parts to this diary and this first part comes in at just under 10 minutes...hardcore Fidget Fans only I guess!

Monday night I was set loose in the kitchen again, and made "chicken and tomato supper" (a receipe from the Dairy Diary cookbook). M decided to take a video of it's last moments under the grill...

Went down to visit Granny and Grandpa this weekend. M and Grandpa were working on the old car. Granny, Fidget and I went out to the shops and Granny bought Fidget some lovely clothes, (photos to come soon no doubt). In the afternoon, Granny and I took Fidget out in the pram to walk to a park with a great play area. As we walked, Fidget fell asleep and it started to drizzle. We arrived, Fidget was sound asleep, so we sat in a shelter and watched the rain get steadily heavier. No sign of Fidget waking up, so we started back, then the heavens really opened! I didn't have a hood or umbrella and got soaked! That afternoon we thought we would finish the soaking off with a swim. Daddy joined Fidget and I and we had a great splash about. Figet really enjoyed jumping in from the side and was doing brilliantly at kicking her legs. Sunday morning looked a much brighter day, so we attempted the park again, this time Fidget stayed awake and it stayed dry. Fidget had a great time on the climbing frame, slide, roundabout, plane, boat, swings and even a death-slide!!

(Thanks to S, O and T for the lovely top!)

Fidget had a nice sleep on the way back to Granny and Grandpa's, then when she woke up, she had a good explore of the garden...
This morning, Fidget went in for her last set of vaccinations for a while, she was on fairly good form this afternoon though, especially when she found the container and baking cuboard!

Fidget is 13 months old today! We didn't take any pictures, but have some from mummies afternoon yesterday which was at the ChallisPalace.

We were joined by N and I, and S and A and had a lovely afternoon. Mini Mush is ill, but Mush and mini-Mush joined us over the MSN webcam.

This weekend, Team Challis went north for JamFest 08! We missed out on this yearly event last year, when Fidget was born, but this year we were all there to help out Grandma and Grandad harvest their soft fruit crop with Uncle A.

Unfortunately this wasnt a good year for the crop, but we did manage to get some greengages and bulus.

Then it was inside to make the jam as the rainy weather set in for the day. We made two batches, Contreau Bulus and Fidget Greengage.

On Sunday, Grandma and Grandad had a barbeque and invited Great Grandma and my Aunts and Uncles.

Another wet and dreary Monday, so Fidget tried to make it sunnier by wearing a sundress from Great Grandma. She also enjoyed putting things into her new bag from Great Grandma. Thanks Great Grandma!!

Fidget had her last session at the mummy milk bar a week ago, so M and I are having a go at reorganising the chores. So tonight while M gave Fidget her milk, I made the supper! It was fish pie...

It's been a while since I have done any cooking, and M said it was really tasty. I was quite proud of it myself!
