End of Term

More berry picking with Fidget. She really is a good picker, very dedicated to the task. She enjoyed squeezing right into the centre of the bushes and would pick loads. Fidget picked blackcurrants and I picked gooseberries (so strapped teatowels to my arms to limit scratches). We managed to pick pretty much all the fruit between us and it was a pleasure working side by side with her.

11th July
Fidget had been practicing for her end of term play. They class was giving a performance showing all about the things they had done during the year. Fidget was a butterfly from their mini-beasts work.
She had some lines which she delivered (almost) beautifully and sang the welcome song, shaking hands with a classmate. She did seem to enjoy the whole thing and it was very entertaining.

Afterwards their teacher had compiled a slideshow of photos from the year set to heart wrenching music eg Take That’s greatest day. I was in absolute floods of tears and looking around I could see I was not alone. The photos themselves weren’t particularly special; often fuzzy, shots of the kids in dressing up clothes and working on writing or in the water play, or running in the playground. But just seeing them enjoying their reception year together and going from seeming such little things back in 2011 to the children on stage was overwhelming, even writing it now I am welling up.
She has had a really good year, I’m really pleased at how she has got on with reading and writing and she (as I always knew) continues to develop as a most wonderful, caring and thoughtful child.
I love her so much.
