Saturday 10th was the Page Park centenary party. We had been warned about the early set up and potential traffic issues, but were really looking forward to the day. We were up earlier than the first soundchecks and managed to get all the cars parked on the drive and had no intention of driving anywhere on the day (our road ended up with only 1 passing place – chocca with cars and then busses still trying to come through!).
We were really impressed by the whole thing, it was really well organised with lots of stuff on, including some great music, lots of interesting stalls and also free fun things for the kids. Fidget went on the bouncy castle and then saw the bouncy slide. She wanted to go on the bouncy slide and I thought it was a bit old for her but didn’t want to sound too discouraging, she insisted so we queued up, at the front of the queue she had to stand in line on her own, again I thought she would bottle when I couldn’t stay with her, I didn’t say this but just waited for the crying… which didn’t come! At each stage I waited for it to be too much for her but it wasn’t at all. She climbed up on her own and slid down and jumped off – all with smiles. In the photo below she can just be seen crawling out across the top.
It really made me think just how much she is growing up and how I need to let her stretch herself abit more. Well done Fidget – I am really proud of you.xxx
We headed over to the sensory garden to get a cup of tea…
The fountain by the dongers was finally running - I have never seen it running since the garden was constructed. Fidget had a great time checking it out but got a bit (read sopping) wet! Fortunately I was carrying her cardigan which was very long, so this had to do for a change of clothes for the walk back to the house…
Sunday 11th was Fidget’s 3rd birthday party, the theme was fairies and elves so when the guests arrived they had a go at making fairy windmill wands.
then there was time to play in the garden and chat….
while M finished getting the food ready including potato mice and peanut butter frogs…
and a fantastic toadstool cake
we had the secret santa present exchange for the mummy group kids…
Fidget got a hungry caterpillar board game and a super sticker book – thanks secret birthday santa!!at this point I thought it would be a good time for a game, I thought we’d try the tray game (where the kids have to memorise the items on a tray and then spot what gets taken away). I was hoping it would work ok as I do play it sometimes with Fidget (with fewer items) and she certainly gets the concept, and I thought with the older kids (Oliver and Isabelle) there to start things off we’d be ok. After an initial scramble from the kids to try and grab or get dibs on their favourite items on the tray, I explained the rules, I was really pleasantly surprised at just how well it went, with Sophie getting right in there and spotting the bee had gone. They all did really well, I have a feeling that Isabelle was playing it strategically – waiting until the necklace came up!
Then it was time to bring out the cake…
there were a number of fairies to spot in the garden….
and time for more playing…
after most of the guests had gone and just the grandparents were with us, Fidget dove into some present opening. Granny and Grandpa had bought a bag for Fidget that had an integrated
baby bear carrier… they also had brought bear a new wardrobe of clothes…
Bear with all the clothes on, ready for summer…
Thanks for all the wonderful presents Fidget received, I will try and get thank you cards out soon. xxx
