Tuesday 22nd February was a mummy day, the girls were playing in the car together so I tried to get some pictures of them. Getting a picture where they are both together, smiling and in focus is pretty difficult so I do try to grab what opportunities I can…
I had got a denim dungaree dress for Squidge from the charity shop, when Fidget saw Squidge in it, she decided she wanted a denim dungaree dress (fortunately she has one). Fidget often wants to wear the same sort of clothes that she sees Squidge in – honestly! It’s not me (though I think it is very cute).
We went out to the supermarket and along with the normal groceries got Fidget some new slippers, she was chuffed
I took some more pictures and the girls were very obliging with their “cheeeeeese”s
Thursday night M took me out to see Ray LaMontange at the Colston Hall, which was fantastic. Helen from work came over to babysit – thanks so much!
Friday morning we set off up to Hull, we stopped for Lunch on the way, the choice wasn’t inspiring so we went for Burger King as the kids meal had toys!!! Squidge thought it was pretty fine dining anyway…
We arrived at Grandma and Grandad’s, the girls were really pleased to see them and have a good run around the house and garden.
On Saturday Uncle A and Aunty B arrived. We had another run around the garden…
and up to Fidget’s favourite…the tree-house…
Later on in the afternoon Fidget helped me make a cake for Grandma’s Birthday. It was going so well, but did not come out of the tin well, but with a generous helping of chocolate icing I am sure you can’t tell…
On Sunday we went out to a pub for lunch to celebrate Grandma’s birthday and meet up with Grandma’s family…
We then went back to Great Aunty J and Great Uncle I’s house for cake and tea. Everyone was very kind about the cake...
I was really pleased that we got to meet little T. T was born back in May last year and is my cousin but we hadn’t been back up north since then. He is very cute and was very curious about Squidge, she was pretty fast to get out of his way though.
My Great Aunty J had been knitting berets that all my Aunts and my mum had shared around. There were a couple going spare that Aunty B and I were delighted to take, though Uncle A couldn’t help having a go…
nor could hat lover Squidge…
My cousin J was getting rid of some soft toys and dressing up stuff. We took some stuff back home with us – thanks J!
Monday morning was a Daddy day back at home, time to try out the new dressing up stuff…little bears…
good pirate
and bad pirate…
Tuesday was mummy-day, more dressing up…
little pirate and Aladdin….
a bad witch…
cowgirl and indian…
Thursday 3rd the girls were at nursery as usual but in the afternoon Fidget took part in a sponsored singalong. She did really well, had no stage fright at all and was very good holding onto her fishing rod for “1-2-3-4-5-once i caught a fish alive”
Friday 4th March – another mummy day. We went out to sing and sign then we decided we should have a pirate afternoon. We added a sail to Fidget’s cardboard boat and put a section on the back and a ship’s wheel to make it into a galleon.
I drew a map and explained it to Fidget, while they were decorating the sail I hid a tin with some chocolate coins in and then put an x on the map. I was really impressed at how well Fidget understood the map and was able to go straight to the treasure. She was also really good at making sure Squidge was with her so they could share the find…
Squidge has had a spurt of getting teeth, it is quite difficult to keep up really, but she has new teeth coming through either side of her existing front teeth (top and bottom), she also has teeth coming through at the back (top and bottom). I tried to get a picture, but Squidge got progressively more annoyed….
Sorry Squidge…
At Christmas I got some great books with sewing projects and also how to knit and some knitting needles. My first project was a scarf for M. When I first started it, I made it twice as wide – it was just crazy so I unravelled it all and started again. It is a bit of an aberration, I managed to add on extra stitches on a number of rows so it looks more like a coastline (actual size). It was still quite wide, so to be practical as a scarf it needed to be long. Very long. I finished it on the 4th – it is now known as the behemoth…
Sunday 6th Uncle A and Aunty B came over for lunch. M did a super ham.
Worn out bears….revived by ham…
Uncle A discovered a slug on his plate…
After lunch we went across to the park…
Tuesday 8th, girls once again in denim dungarees and had sat themselves on the sunlit seat – perfect chance for a picture – say “cheeeeeeese”
mmmmm o well, try another time!
On Thursday we picked up Fidget and Squidge up from nursery. Fidget had a friend… it was her turn to take home Pluto. We had to write a diary about what we did together over the weekend.
On Friday morning we went out to sing and sign. Pluto got to meet Jesse cat who he got on very well with…
We then went across to Cribbs Causeway as I wanted to get Fidget’s feet checked and they have a good shoe shop there. No need for new shoes. So we then went up to the John Lewis cafe for savoury pancakes – which everyone thought was yum including Pluto…
We wandered back, stopping at the fountain, the girls and pluto cleared me out of coppers – making wishes….
Saturday was a really lovely day so we were all out in the garden. Fidget let Pluto have a go in Squidge’s swing which he thought was ace…
Squidge thinks it is pretty cool too…
Fidget helped Daddy plant some potatoes, but Pluto wasn’t allowed to as he would get muddy paws…
Squidge had a good stomp around looking for insects…
Fidget found a snail…
It was so mild, I got the tent out on the deck – it was so nice to be outside.
but I think Pluto found the fresh air quite tiring….
On Sunday I dug out some dungarees that had been sent over from Fidget’s cousin’s in Germany to check whether they would fit Squidge. They were too big but Fidget was super keen to give them a whirl…
We “nipped” out to Ikea on Sunday to pick up some picture frames – it was a really bad idea, anyway nevermind! I also picked up some fabric storage boxes for the study and got the girls to decorate them with fabric pens.
They are so cool. I need to get some pictures of how the study is looking – it’s ace, but i think this post is already long enough and long enough overdue.
