Monday 11th July – a Daddy Day – Fidget gives herself palm tattoos – nice!
The night before Fidget’s birthday, M went out to attach the slide, which is the main present from us this year. It looks really cool, but is a bit narrow for adult bottoms…
The morning of Fidget’s birthday was a nursery day and M had to be away early to go to a site, so was gone before any of us woke up. I had been super prepared though, the girls came downstairs and Fidget opened her presents. She was thrilled with every one of them – thank you to everyone for the fab gifts!
I then took Fidget outside onto the deck so she could see the treehouse….
I had organised a very nice breakfast of choc-chip muffins, fruit (strawberries, blueberries and grapes) and pink & white chocolate milk….
it went down well…
(happy birthday breakfast vid)
After breakfast there was just enough time to have a couple of goes on the slide…
The next day was another nursery day, but it was Fidget’s school leaver’s party and graduation ceremony. I went along to the ceremony to watch Fidget in the mortar board she had made, be presented a certificate for being super.
a very proud moment…
we were home earlyish so out to the treehouse to drink bedtime milk and have a few slides. I also pruned out a few branches and fitted the whirly-bugs that Yasmin and Isabel had given Fidget for the treehouse for her birthday – thanks girls – they’re super!
On the Friday, Grandma and Granddad arrived. They had bought Fidget a “princess bed” as she calls it – a pink canopy to go over her bed – and she was thrilled. They had also brought a super new pram to replace her broken one – thanks Grandma and Grandad!!!
Saturday morning the girls decided to dress up as pirates to greet Grandma and Granddad down to breakfast with an arrrrgggggggg!
It was a miserably rainy morning but we had decided to spend the day in the centre of Bristol so we set off. We visited the museum which the girls loved.
We then walked down to Millenium square. We had planned to eat at pizza express, and M had secured a table 30minutes hence. We waited in the square…
Then went to pizza express but they told us it would be another 30mins, so we said no ta, and tried to find somewhere else – buy no joy, when we tried pizza express again they said “no can do” booooo. So we ate at the watershed cafe which was actually very nice. The only problem was that by now I had to rush as I had a hair appointment booked.
I returned from my hair appointment with dramatically shorter hair, we figured out that I seem to be in a pattern of going to get my hair cut about once every 6 months, so I guess the cut has to last me!
We decided to walk back up to Andrew’s flat. Fidget found an Uncle-Andrew-mask, spoooky!
Andrew got out the ukulele and Fidget had a brilliant time dancing. I have included alot of photos but I really do like the shapes of her dancing…
After all that dancing it was time for a nap…
then a bit of food and a couple of ceebeeebies programmes
enjoyed by all….
Sunday was the birthday party. M had made the cakes the night before and I decorated them in the morning. Fidget had asked for a pink flower, so that is what she got!
We went to boomerang soft play in Melksham. We chose this because it is close to where her nursery friends live and I dont really know them to expect them to come out to Bristol and I didn’t want Fidget to be disappointed if they didn't turn up. It was a great venue really, they included all the food (bar a cake) and pa.rty bags so there was little to worry about and it was a great turnout with 18 kids.
Squidge and her little cousins really liked the baby section…
Fidget and her best friend Lucy liked it too and spent alot of time running around shouting “fire, fire” and jumping down laughing.
Grandma, Grandad, Andrew and Becky had come along to help out with the kids which was great…
I love this picture of Yasmin jumping…
I then persuaded Fidget and Lucy to go on the big-kids section. Andrew and Becky took them up to the top of the super-wavy-slide…
I had to have a go to (I am the blur on the right)
we were then called to our party room for food, there was loads of it and it was really good ( I ended up taking home the leftover sausage rolls and cakes home in boxes they provided).
We hadn’t brought Squidge a tommy tippee cup, so we had to give her a normal cup of squash that she did surprisingly well with…
We had the cake and singing
then jelly and ice cream
Monday 18th Grandma and Granddad were on their way back, after a bit of balloons and dancing.
this was Daddy day, so I am not sure what is happening here….
Tuesday was Mummy day and we spent plenty of time playing in the treehouse in the morning….
The following day we had had a delivery of a replacement shower (hurrah!) which came in quite a bit of bubble wrap….
Friday (Daddy day), the girls had a go with the moon sand which was one of Fidget’s presents….
certainly went down well
On the Saturday, I had decided to take Fidget for her first proper hair cut. Sally and Sharon had recommended Ultimate hair in Mangotsfield and M said he would walk up to book an appointment. The first hair place he came to was “Pauline’s Spa” declaring that “surely no other hair establishment must exist in Mangotsfield” (even though Ulitmate Hair was two doors down) he plumped for the Spa (where they charge £10 to trim off a miniscule amount of hair btw – oh well!)
Here is the before shots….
I didn’t really bother with the “after” as it is hard to tell apart from the fact the hair is straighter across the bottom.
That evening we went to a “warming the house party” (as Fidget called it) for Craig and Julie. It was a really nice afternoon, we stayed till after the girls bedtime and they loved chasing around after the cat and playing with Andrew and Becky.
