Squidge's Christening

The weekend after Easter was Squidge's Christening. Uncle A, Auntie B, Grandma and Grandad came down to stay. Uncle A, Auntie B and M's cousin A are Squidge's Godparents.

Saturday was very good weather, Uncle A spent much of the day making a huge vat of chilli. M worked away in the kitchen on various other provisions, I busied around with various preparations. The lady of the moment just chilled... Grandma and Grandad brought down some presents including a lovely dress and hoodie for Fidget, the dress is below... modelled on the run...
Sunday morning was quite a rush getting everything ready and before we knew it, we were heading to the church. Squidge wore the dress that was made for Fidget's Christening. It fitted very well and looked lovely on her.
We waited in the porch of the church while everyone arrived.
Uncle A was providing the musical accompaniment to the two hymns ("give me joy in my heart" and "this little light of mine"), so he got set up - helped by his lovely assistant...

We were so glad that so many of our family and friends could make it, many travelling from far away, so thanks to you all.

The service actually started in the porch, then we all came through to the church, we had the first hymn and a reading from Grandad. (that's a picture of the priest though, not Grandad in case anyone was confused)

Aunty M did the bidding prayers (and very nicely too) even though we had given her no warning! Sorry about that Aunty M!
Squidge was fairly intrigued by the watery bit, and was pretty good through most of the ceremony...

At the end of the ceremony we sang "this little light of mine", which I loved. I did video a bit of it, and will post it here even though my singing is very loud and rather poor on it, maybe you can just about hear the grand job Uncle A did on the music!

After a bit of milling about...

everyone headed back to the ChallisPalace.

the weather was a bit cooler, but it was still nice enough to open up the back doors and have people spill out onto the deck and into the garden.
Daddy with his girls...
Fidget enjoying one of M's very popular fairy cakes...
We were really pleased that Auntie M and Uncle A had been able to make it with the twins J&C. J&C were much in demand for cuddles, but seemed to sleep through most of the fuss!

The proud Godparents... Uncle A and Auntie B...
and cousin A...
thanks so much guys! And thanks for all your help on the day!
Me giving a speech about the girl's Godparents...
And M cutting the lovely cake...(Fidget checking out the icing, planning how she was going to get her hands on some)
These pictures remind me of the pictures from the society pages of hello! magazine...

Squidge eventually crashed out...

and we tried to get a TeamChallis team-photo...
the baby cousins...(and attendants)

Fidget had fun running around and eating cakes and icing, but also in explaining the complexities of her Dora the explora laptop to Great Aunty S...
some poooped out people, v tired after all their efforts helping make the day go smoothly...
This one is crying out for a caption competition...
and from the other angle...
Squidge in her finery...

I promise I will get proper thank yous out asap (broken printer at the mo!).
But thank you to everyone for coming along and for all the lovely presents.
