Easter Weekend

Way back at the beginning of the month, we went away up to Hull for the Easter weekend. It was a busy visit, we were staying with Grandma and Grandad, as were Auntie J and cousins G, M and R. Across the river were most of M's family including Granny and Grandpa who were all up for Great Auntie M and Great Uncle S's 25th wedding celebrations.

We drove up on Thursday evening. On Friday, Grandad had organised an egg hunt in the garden... It was perhaps a little challenging, as it took 1 1/2 hours for the final egg to be found! But it was great fun, and the kids really enjoyed being out in the garden.

The kids stayed out playing in the garden, with the trampoline being particularly popular...

cousin M was less bothered by the trampoline (or maybe he couldn't be bothered to elbow his way on past the girls), he enjoyed some sports with Grandad...
In the afternoon we went along to Scunthorpe to a great museum that unfortunately was almost entirely empty of people, which was a shame as it was a great place.
We wandered around looking at the exhibits...
the kids all had quiz sheets with things to look out for, Fidget and R had to look for pictures of toys throughout the museum...
they really enjoyed just having a good look about. Fidget really liked the drawers of cool things...

and a bird "flying " overhead...

Squidge was less bothered, but she just likes having a wander about in the sling.

We were then flagged down by a lady who had probably been sitting on her own in the craft room all afternoon. We went in and the kids made and decorated some Easter baskets with bunnies...

We then found a great dressing up room...

Fidget and Squidge had a really brilliant time playing with their cousins.

On Saturday we headed across the bridge to meet up with more cousins. We went to the Deep with G&D and cousin C, N& R and cousins R & N, plus A, C and E. Fidget was a bit overwhelmed
at first... Squidge really enjoyed looking at the exhibits...

I did end up with alot of blurry dark pictures of the back of Fidget's head as she looked at fish!, with one or two usable ones...

cousin C...
nice eyebrow raise Squidge!

There was lots of photo taking, G and A comparing shots...
We stopped for lunch...

then continued exploring...

Squidge got a bit hungry, so her and I nipped off up to the cafe, while Fidget and Daddy enjoyed the view climbing the stairs through the main tank with the others,
then joined me in the cafe.
We then went back to Great Anuty and Uncle M & S's house. Granny and Grandpa were there, and had presents for Squidge and Fidget. Fidget loved her new butterfly jewellry and looked very pretty in them...

Three was lots of present giving, both Easter presents and presents for Squidge for her Christening. Thanks to everyone - I will try to get the thank you letters out soon!!

We spent Sunday morning with Grandma and Grandad, Fidget tried on Squidge's butterfly wings and also had on the new clothes and jewellry from Granny.

Fidget had already amassed an impressive amount of Easter chocolate and sweets, so we let her make a start...
after lunch we went back over to Aunty M & Uncle S's. M's cousin E had brought over some of her old jewellry and dolls for the younger cousins to play with, it was all a hit with Fidget...
then it was time for another Easter egg hunt...
starting off with dainty bags...
the garden was festooned with chocolate and sweets, so the bags soon became full...
a little egg hunt rage...
even Squidge got involved with looking after Fidget's loot, while she continued to hunt...
soon the dainty bags needed to be decanted into bin bags!!...
a fresh basket, more eggs to find...

cousin C...
cousins R and C...
cousin N...
after the hunt, the girls spent much of their time out in the hall playing with the jewellry and dolls...
the nail polish was very popular!
Fidget had a go painting her toenails and also her toes!

Monday was the service to celebrate Great Aunty and Uncle M & S's silver wedding anniversary.
it was at Holy Cross, which is the church M & I were married at, and where Fidget was Christened. Afterwards there was a party in the garden room.

We tried to get a picture of Fidget and her cousins together, this was about the best we managed...
R & N were naturals infront of the camera...
Fidget perked up when she was given the task of helping Squidge get in the picture...
we then tried to get them all in...
not much luck!

time for a team Challis photo call...

on returning inside, we were suprised to find that Grandpa was not only helping out in the kitchen but had donned a pink pinny!
Fidget made freinds with Great Uncle H...
they certainly seemed to be on a wavelength
Fidget fancied some grapes but wanted the ones decorating the cheese board rather than from the huge bowl of grapes next to it...
Outside Great Aunty N was painting faces so Fidget went for a butterfly...

I think she looks alot like me in the photo below...
and in this one...

That afternoon we drove back home. It had been a busy but fun, and great to see all the family.
On the Tuesday, Squidge was 26 weeks and also 6 months old, so we took some pictures...

Fidget at 26 weeks...
them both now...

This one is my favourite picture...
