Last Saturday M went off to China again. On Sunday, on their way home Granny and Grandpa popped in. Grandpa fixed the car and Granny and Fidget had fun playing until it was time for bed. While M was away, Fidget and I made some preparations for his upcoming birthday, we went outside to paint some paper for wrapping presents.

We made some potato stamps for printing...
On Wednesday evening, Uncle A and Aunty B arrived. Aunty B was visiting Bristol University and they both stayed with us. Uncle A cooked lovely meatballs on Thursday night and Aunty B made a super risotto on Friday, so I was well looked after.
On Friday we all went out together to Bristol zoo, it was a fantastic day.
We saw loads of animals, Fidget (and Aunty B and Uncle A) were fascinated.

Uncle A's favourites were the giant tortoises, Fidget thought they were cool too...

There were some great fishes in the aquarium...

My favourite were the seals and penguins, they were really cute and lively.

I took quite a few videos. On the first one, the seals were getting quite noisy and aggressive, which Fidget wasn't keen on...

she soon forgave them when they quietened down...

We got to the gorilla enclosure as they were feeding the gorillas and giving a talk about them. Fidget really liked the gorilla photo board and kept getting A and B to put their heads through. She was monkeying about for ages (I had a sit down in the sun).
can you spot the difference?...

After lunch Fidget had an extra burst of energy, which was pretty incredible as she had been walking around the zoo since 9:30. She gave Uncle A a good run around chasing after her, including sneaking under a broken barrier which Uncle A got tangled up with his backpack chasing her. Fidget thought this was hilarious... so did B and I.

Then Fidget found a fountain, and another quality 10 minutes of monkeying about was spent with A and B trying to stop her getting soaked while Mummy watched on from a nearby bench.

In the end they couldn't resist having a play with the water themselves.
On our way round we heard the lions roaring, so went back to their enclosure and got some great up close views.

We weren't sure who was more impressed; Fidget or Aunty B!...

There were lots of great things to do, including a really cool puppet show, Aunty B and Fidget were pretty rapt...

We all felt it was time for ice cream and found a great place for a paddle while Uncle A went to get provisions...

There were still more animals to see including some very cute monkeys...

Fidget really took to the meercats...

"compare the meercats.com!" (sorry I couldn't help myself)
As we left at 3:30, Fidget finally climbed into the pram (that had been redundant for the rest of the day) and fell promptly asleep. Once in the car it didn't take long for A & B to join her.

Saturday morning Daddy arrived home from China, we were really pleased to see him.

The gooseberries and some of the blackcurrants are ripe now, so TeamChallis went out to do some picking...

Fidget was happy to sample the pickings...

M made a crumble, then we made some gooseberry and almond jam...15 delicious jars.
