For Fidget’s birthday I had been planning (since probably last year) to make her a campfire set. A what?
To clarify, I wanted to make her a set of felt elements that she could use to make a pretend campfire, not quite sure why, but I had seen one way back and it looked cool. It was a really absorbing project and took at least a month of evenings, sitting down and thinking about pattern shapes, cutting and hand sewing the felt. But I have to say it is one of my craft projects that I am most proud of. I made a big cotton drawstring bag to keep it all in from a super cool wood grain fabric and made a label with a quote from one of my favourite moomins episodes….

M was at work for his birthday. The girls and I made him a cake. We tried a Battenberg, with the girls choosing green as our contrasting colour of choice. M looooooves marzipan so he was pretty pleased I think. The girls stayed up so they could see him blow out his candles and give him his presents…

At the weekend we went over to cousin A’s house, and met up with Aunty M and Uncle A, C&J and B&T with Thomas. The girls loved seeing their cousins and cousin A’s lego pirate ship and animals were a real hit.

This was a really busy work day for M and I. A big meeting was happening at our site and his role meant he had to attend one part and my role meant I had to attend another part and that generally we should both be there for the whole day. The day was being topped off with a BBQ at the site.
Granny and Grandpa came to our rescue, coming all the way up to pick up the girls from school and then take them out for tea, and then bring them to the BBQ. Where Granny and Grandpa were given a well earned glass of punch and a sausage (veggy quiche for Grandpa). The girls had a great evening swimming in the pool and socialising with our colleagues.

If we are linked on facebook you will already be aware of this saga, and this particular news comes rather late, but I will recount the tale.
On the Thursday of that week I realised that I had not seen Bear. We started a fairly low key search which escalated to facebook requests for information as to his whereabouts. I got pretty worried about the prospect that he was lost as we had really scoured the house, top to bottom, looking in every bag, every drawer, cupboard, any box that could conceal a Bear sized person.
It had been really rainy, so we had not been outside. But eventually some 4 days later, when M did venture into the garden, he found a very wet and sorry looking Bear, huddled up with Fluff-dog in the treehouse. They both went straight in the wash, watched by a very concerned Fidget before being joyfully reunited.
