I found this collection of dolls left by Squidge, not quite sure what they are doing…
5th May
In the garden modelling the hats…
they are reversible!!!
6th May
spent quite a bit of time in the garden, M had got the new veg bed layout in place and then brought the gravel through to remake the paths. The girls were really helpful in levelling out the gravel.
enjoying the finished job…
8th May
Mummy day with Squidge, I realised recently that I haven’t taken that many videos of Squidge and wanted to capture on vid’ how her language development has come on. Both videos are a bit long (so I have had to split them both in half) but very cute as Squidge is pretty unflustered by the camera and was quite happy to chat…
and sing….
13th May?
It was a beautiful sunny morning, when I came down the girls were playing in the front room and singing, I took several videos of both girls singing. They do enjoy their singing, i love Squidge’s improvised ballad!
19th May
Fidget was heading out to a soft play party later in the day. When she has had a party to go to I have tended to make a card with Fidget in the morning, getting different ideas from a cool book that Aunty M got me a couple of Christmases ago.
We had made blown ink monsters, finger print flowers and then on this morning we did collage people using mouths, eyes, noses, arms, clothes etc cut out from magazines. I had done the cutting out earlier in the week with Squidge – she chopped away at a pile of magazines I was throwing out while I carefully cut out some cool items. At the same time Squidge was making her own collage which was pretty freaky cool and is now up on the kitchen wall. I was really impressed by Fidget’s card, and took a picture before we signed and sealed it…
We had had a delivery of garden furniture on the Friday, after a group discussion we decided that we would turn the boxes into a gingerbread house. In the morning we got to painting…
20th May
Next morning it was time to decorate it with pictures of cakes, sweets and biscuits.
If you listen carefully you can hear the charming Squidge point out that she is Cinderella and that Fidget was the ugly sister!
Fidget enjoying it too I’m sure…
22nd May
This was a Mummy day. Walked Fidget to school. Squidge didn’t want to go swimming so went back home via the shops to pick up some picnic items. Had a fun day with Squidge then prepared for an adventure.
I picked up Fidget from school and drove down to Warmley, to find a spot to see the Olympic flame come through.
I got a bit lost so we parked a fair way from the flame route, which in the end was no bad thing. I asked a passer-by, who directed us to the route and we found a spot. Fidget had a picnic tea while we waited. It was quite a long wait for Fidget in the sun, so she kept hopping back into the shade of a nearby wall. Squidge slept until it was nearly time.
The flame…
The girls enjoyed waving their flags and it was a brilliant atmosphere with the huge crowds, but I think the girls were fairly nonplussed about it all. It was a long hot walk back but that was definitely preferable to sitting in the mad traffic jams all around the flame route.
I was absolutely exhausted by the time we got home, but I was glad I took the chance to take the girls. They didn’t really appreciate it so much, but when they look back on all this one day they will know that they saw the Olympic flame and maybe think that was fairly cool. Maybe.
