Realised we need to get Squidge a passport, so yesterday I tried to take the passport photos, ay ay ay! What a palaver.
First off I tried to sit her against the wall downstairs and interest her with various household objects that she had not yet been allowed to investigate – that was ok up to a point, but I’m fairly sure the passport photo guidance says you can’t have a picture where you are chomping on pair of salad servers.
I eventually got something passport-passable, then I read the guidance again – cream or grey backgrounds only – not white! So I had to make another plan – as all the walls in our house are white.
Here are some of the pics from the first attempt:
One of the casualties of the big clear out is Fidgets’ cot mattress – we got a new one for Squidge and the old one was lobbed into the en-suite junk room. I thought it would be good to cover it to make a floor cushion or some such nonsense (what bit of floor could we find to put it down on!?) anyway it is waiting in the hall for its’ freecycle friend to materialise. So I put a cream sheet over it, stood it up in Fidgets’ room and tried again. At first I tried to stand her up by the walker, it was not going too well until I sat Squidge on Fidgets’ rocking ladybird, so she was upright and comfy and still (bar the rocking!). As a benefit the ladybird plays tunes when you squeeze her ears/antennae/things on her head (goodness knows what they are supposed to be), so each time Squidge heard a tune she looked at me smiling before starting to rock vigorously. Those small windows of opportunity were the best I was going to get. Examples from the 2nd attempt:
The final (cropped) versions that were suitable as passport photos are below. My favourite is the first one, but an error in printing means we will probably use the 2nd one rather than print the sheet again.
I wish we could use one of the big cheesy beamer photos – it would be much more recognisable at passport control when the person in the booth looks up, they wont see the face above, but rather:
